Templates

A transaction template saves the details of a transaction you enter often, so the next one takes a tap instead of filling in every field.

Good candidates:

  • Weekly groceries: same account, category and payee every time; only the amount changes.
  • Home insurance: the same amount, account and category each month.
  • Rental income: an income template with the right account and payee.

Create a template​

From your template list:

  1. Open the side menu and tap Transaction templates (under Budget settings). You can also reach it from the ⋮ menu on the Transactions screen.
  2. Tap New template.
  3. Give it a Name and, if you like, an icon and color.
  4. Under Transaction detail, choose the Type and fill in what the template should set: Amount, From, To, Category, Payee, Tags and Notes. Leave a field empty to fill it in each time.
  5. Save the template.

From an existing transaction: open it, tap the ⋮ menu in its Transaction details and choose Create template. The template starts with that transaction's details.

Overwrite any entered values​

Each template has an Overwrite any entered values switch. It matters when you apply a template to a transaction you've already started:

  • On: the template replaces what you entered.
  • Off: the template only fills in the fields that are still empty.

Use a template​

  • Tap Add in the bottom bar, choose Transaction templates and pick a template. A new transaction opens with the template's details filled in.
  • Or, in a new transaction, tap the template icon in the top bar and pick a template.

Check the amount and date, then save.

Organise your templates​

Pin the templates you use most so they appear under Pinned templates at the top of the list, use Search for templates when the list gets long, and reorder them as you like. To delete a template, open it and choose Delete.

Free and Pro

On the Free plan you can have up to 5 templates. Pro raises this to 300.
