Levels

Every budgeting action you take in Beyond Budget earns you XP (experience points). As your XP grows you move up through 21 levels, each one represented by a mineral, gem or treasure: you start at Quartz and work your way up through Amber, Garnet, Topaz and beyond, all the way to The Crown and the Treasure Chest.

Open your level​

  • From your streak: tap the flame button at the top of the Budget screen, then tap Progress overview.
  • From the side menu: turn on Show level shortcut in the side menu on the level screen, and your level appears in the side menu.

The level screen shows your current level, your Total XP, how much XP remains until the next level, and the levels still ahead. From here you can also open:

  • XP Detail: the list of activities that earn XP.
  • XP multiplier: what's currently boosting your XP.
  • Your XP timeline: what you earned XP for, and when.

How to earn XP​

Almost everything you do to manage your money counts. The XP Detail screen lists every activity, including:

  • Money allocation and Money reallocation
  • New inflow transaction and New outflow transaction
  • New future transaction
  • New account, New payee, New tag, New target, New reminder
  • Target completed and Debt paid off
  • Bulk allocation completed and Bulk overspending fixed
  • Sentiment added to transaction and Article read
  • Streak extended, Check-in and Early check-in
  • Level daily check-in and Leaderboard daily check-in
  • New badge acknowledged
  • Hidden egg (see The Hidden Ledger)

Some activities have a daily limit; when you reach it, you'll see Maximum daily limit reached.

XP multiplier​

Your Current XP multiplier can boost every XP you earn:

  • Streak bonus: keep your streak for 3 days to double your XP (2x), and for 30 days to triple it (3x).
  • Special day bonus: active on Saturdays, Mondays, and Wednesdays.

Levels and the league​

Each new level unlocks that level's badge. Your XP also counts towards the online league, where you can compare your progress with other budgeters each month. The level screen is also where you join or leave the league, change your avatar and location, and choose Show leaderboard shortcut to add a leaderboard button to the Budget screen.

If you'd rather keep things serious, switch off Gamification features in More › Settings › Appearance. No pressure!
