Starting over
Life doesn't always go to plan, and sometimes your budget needs a clean slate. Start over deletes your transactions so you can begin again, while keeping all the setup work you've already done: your groups, categories, payees, tags and accounts stay where they are.
What gets erased and what stays

Starting over can't be undone.
- Erased: all the transactions in the current budget: spending, income and transfers.
- Kept: your groups, categories, payees, tags and accounts. They start again from a zero balance, so you can rebuild without setting everything up from scratch.
If you might want your old data later, export your data first.
Start over
You can open Start over from three places:
- The side menu: tap Start over (under Beyond only budgeting).
- More › Profile: tap Start over in the Reset & Danger Zone section.
- More › Budgets: open the menu next to the budget you're using and tap Start over. This option only shows for the selected budget, and only if you own it.
Then:
- Read the explanation and tap Start over.
- In the Start over? dialog, confirm. If your budget already has a fair amount of history, the app asks you to type a number it shows ("To confirm, please type …") so you can't start over by accident. Otherwise you tick a checkbox.
- Tap Start over. The app shows Starting over! while it clears your transactions.
Feeling overwhelmed?
That's perfectly normal. Budgeting is an ongoing process, and Start over is there to help you dust off and try again when things don't go as planned, without the weight of past mistakes. It's about progress, not perfection. Every fresh start is a step closer to mastering your budget.
