Widgets and shortcuts

On Android, Beyond Budget puts your budget on your phone's home screen: widgets show your numbers at a glance and start common tasks with one tap, and the app icon has shortcuts for adding transactions.

Android only

Widgets and app icon shortcuts are available on Android. iOS and the web don't have them. For quick access inside the app on any platform, use Shortcuts on Home.

Add a widget​

Long-press an empty spot on your home screen, choose Widgets, find Beyond Budget, and drag the widget you want onto the screen. The steps differ slightly between phone makers.

The widgets​

Quick Activity Overview​

A snapshot of your budget: Upcoming transactions, Recent transactions, Pinned accounts and Pinned categories. Tap any item to open it in the app.

To choose what appears, pin accounts and categories in the app. You can hide recent transactions with More › Settings › Widget › Display recent transactions.

Quick Actions​

A row of icon buttons for everyday tasks: add a new transaction, add a quick transaction, view your recent transactions, open your shopping list and open your reminders. A medium-sized widget shows the first four, a small one only new transaction and shopping list.

Receipt scan​

Two buttons to scan a receipt: take a photo with the camera, or pick an image you already have.

Transaction templates​

Lists your transaction templates. Tap one to start a new transaction from it.

League​

Shows your rank in the online league, your XP and your level. If you haven't joined the league yet, the widget tells you so.

Widgets and your passcode​

If you've set a Passcode (More › Settings), you can choose what widgets show while the app is locked in More › Settings › Widget › Widget access:

  • No access: the widget shows nothing from the app.
  • Show items only: names without amounts, for a discreet overview.
  • Full access: everything, including amounts.

App icon shortcuts​

Long-press the Beyond Budget app icon to jump straight to:

  • New expense
  • New income
  • New transfer
  • Quick Transactions

You can also drag a shortcut onto your home screen to keep it there.
