Why Adding Payees Is Important

Adding payees in helps you keep track of where your money is going. By assigning a specific payee to each transaction, you can better analyze your spending habits, identify regular payments, and maintain an organized financial record. This feature is particularly useful for recurring expenses, such as utility bills or rent, where knowing the payee helps you quickly identify and categorize your transactions.

Exploring Payee Details

Once you've added a payee, you can delve into its details to get a comprehensive view of your spending related to that payee. Here’s what you can do within the payee’s detailed view:

  • Historical Spending Chart: This chart provides a visual representation of your spending over time with a specific payee. You can quickly spot trends, such as increased spending over the past months, which helps in budgeting and forecasting future expenses.

  • Pinning Payees: If you have frequent transactions with certain payees, you can pin them to the top of your payee list. This ensures quick access and management of these payees, especially when they are critical to your budgeting.

  • Absolute vs. Relative Values: In the historical spending chart, you can toggle between showing absolute values or relative percentages. This flexibility is especially useful when you mix income and expenses and want a clear picture of how these transactions impact your overall financial flow over time.

  • Recent Transactions: The detailed view also lists recent transactions associated with the payee. This feature makes it easy to review and verify your expenses, ensuring accuracy and consistency in your records.

  • Total Spent: At a glance, you can see the total amount spent with a particular payee for both the current month and over all time. This summary is useful for understanding the financial impact of specific payees on your overall budget.

  • Reminders: You can quickly add reminders directly from the payee's detailed view. For example, if you need to pay your electricity bill every month, you can set a reminder to alert you before the due date, ensuring that you never miss a payment. This feature helps you stay on top of your financial commitments effortlessly.

  • Notes: You can easily add notes to any payee for additional context or reminders. For instance, if you receive a discount or need to remember a specific detail about a transaction, you can jot it down in the notes section. This keeps all relevant information organized and accessible whenever you review your spending.

Auto-Suggestion and Learning Patterns

The app has a smart feature indicated by the lightning bolt icon, which represents the app's auto-suggestion capability. Over time, the app learns your spending patterns, such as frequent transactions with certain payees, and automatically suggests them when you enter new expenses. This saves you time and effort, making the process of logging transactions faster and more efficient. For instance, if you regularly pay your power company, the app will start suggesting "My power company" whenever you log an electricity-related expense.

Smart Search by Payee

The Smart Search feature allows you to quickly find all transactions associated with a specific payee. When you enter a payee's name into the search bar, the app pulls up every relevant transaction and displays them in a list. At the top of this list, you’ll see a summary that shows the total number of transactions and the total amount spent with that payee. This is an efficient way to review your financial activity with specific payees, making it easier to track your spending and manage your budget.

By effectively utilizing the payee management features, you can gain better control over your finances, make informed decisions, and enhance your budgeting strategy.
