Multiple budgets

Available onAndroidiOSWeb

Keep separate budgets for different parts of your life: your personal money, a side business, a shared household, savings in another currency, or a fresh start with a different budgeting method. Each budget has its own accounts, categories and transactions.

Free and Pro

The free plan includes 2 budgets. With Pro you can have up to 100. See Upgrading to Pro.

See your budgets

Go to More › Budgets. The list shows My budgets and, if someone shares a budget with you through a family group, Shared with me. Under each budget's name you'll see its type (Zero-Based Budgeting, Classic Budgeting or Simple tracker), All features if it's a Pro budget, and the number of contributors when it's shared. The budget you're using has its radio button selected.

Create a budget

  1. Go to More › Budgets.
  2. Tap the New budget button at the top.
  3. Fill in:
    • Name: what to call the budget.
    • Type: Zero-Based Budgeting, Classic Budgeting or Simple tracker. See Classic Budgeting and Zero-Based Budgeting.
    • Copy categories from (optional): start with the groups and categories of one of your existing budgets.
  4. Confirm. The app asks Switch to the new budget?; tap Switch to start using it now.

Only categories are copied. Accounts, payees, tags and transactions start empty.

tip

A budget's type can't be changed after it's created. To move to another budgeting method, create a new budget of that type and copy your categories into it. See How to switch from classic to zero-based budgeting.

Switch budgets

  • From More › Budgets, tap the budget you want to use.
  • Or, once you have more than one budget, open the side menu and tap Budgets near the top. The Switch budget list opens; tap a budget and you're straight back in it.

Rename, share, start over or delete

In More › Budgets, tap the ⋮ next to one of your own budgets (budgets shared with you don't have these options):

  • Rename: give the budget a new name.
  • Access Control (when you have a family group): choose which family members can use the budget, as Editor or None.
  • Start over: reset the budget you're using and begin again. See Starting over.
  • Delete: permanently delete the budget. The app asks Delete budget? and you type the number it shows to confirm. You can't delete the budget you're currently using; switch to another one first.
