Side menu

The side menu is where you reach the screens that don't have their own tab: insights, debts, payees, tags, targets, reminders, the AI assistant, calculators and more. You can pin the ones you use most to Favorites at its top.

Open the side menu

On the Budget tab, tap the menu button (three lines) in the top-left corner.

On a wide window (a tablet, or the web app in a large browser window) the side menu stays open on the left, next to your tabs. The button at its top collapses it to a narrow strip of icons and opens it again.

A dot on the menu button means there's something new to read in the Knowledge hub.

What's in it

From top to bottom:

• Budgets: shown when you have more than one budget, with how many you have. Tap it to switch to another budget. See Multiple budgets.
• Favorites: the screens you pinned (see below). Until you pin one, the row says No items added yet; tap it to choose some.
• Go Pro ("Unlock 105+ features & customizations"): on the Free plan, opens what Pro includes. See Upgrading to Pro.
• Last backup: when your data last reached our servers. Tap it for the backup and connection status. See Support.
• Your level: shown when you turn on Show level shortcut in the side menu on the level screen. See Levels.
• Help center: opens this help site.

Beyond only budgeting

• Trees funded: how many trees Beyond Budget has funded, with the estimated CO2 removed. Tap it to visit the tree-planting project's website.
• Financial health score
• Knowledge hub: articles with financial tips. See Articles.
• Net worth (not in a Simple tracker budget)
• Surplus funds overview
• Insights: every report in one place.
• Start over: only for the budget's owner. See Starting over.

Debt calculators

• Credit cards: the credit card payoff calculator. See Credit cards.
• Loans: the loan calculator. See Large debts.

Budget settings

• Groups and categories
• Debts: money you borrowed or lent. See Small debts.
• Payees
• Tags
• Targets
• Reminders

On Android, the bottom of the menu can also have a switch for Bank notification import.

Lock

When you've set a passcode, the wide-window side menu has a lock button next to your name that locks the app straight away. On a phone, use the lock button at the top of the More tab. See Security.

Pin your favorite screens

Put the screens you open most at the top of the side menu:

1. Open the side menu.

2. Tap the pencil next to Favorites (or tap Favorites › No items added yet if you have none yet). Customize side menu opens.

3. Under Available items, tap the star next to a screen to add it to Favorites. The message that confirms it has a View button that scrolls to your favorites.

4. To change their order, drag a favorite by its handle.

5. To remove one, tap its ⋮ and choose Delete. It goes back to Available items.

Your favorites show at the top of the side menu with a yellow star, and the screens also stay in their usual section. Ask Beyond and Money insights can't be added to Favorites.
